So it saved the state but it was bad ’cause it was from Obama. “The gravytrain is over”. So he’s complaining now that they will not get anymore of the “bad thing” he didn’t like but ended up significantly helping his state?
Does he even realize the contradictions in his own words?
Listen to the context in which Spence made this statement.
Premise: Missouri has a problem–Budget shortfall
Temporary Solution: Obama’s Federal Stimulus Money.
Real, long-term Solution: Balancing the State budget while not being dependent Federal money.
Context: When he says it “saved our Bacon” he means that it prevented a state deficit.
This is not a contradiction, it logically supports his premise that despite helping the state in the short term, long-term, federal stimulus money is not the solution. It never can be a solution. The goal is to balance our state’s budget without using federal money. A patch does not correct, it just buys time. In this case, it makes sense.
