From Midwest Democracy Project, KC Star:
U.S. Rep. Todd Akin told reporters in Sedalia today that he isn’t sure the federal government should be involved in the school lunch program.
School lunches are part of the farm bill, which Akin says should be split up.
UPDATE: Only a small part of the Senate farm bill is related to the school lunch program, we’re told. Instead, it’s part of a stand-alone bill considered in 2010.
Sen. Claire McCaskill said she supports the program.
The two shook hands and exchanged pleasantries at the governor’s ham breakfast at the Missouri state fair.
