Communications Director Sam Murphey, a key member of the Jay Nixon press shop, is taking a job in the private sector, according to an announcement from Governor Jay Nixon.
"Sam has been an integral member of my staff, and a dedicated public servant to this state,”Gov. Nixon said. “I am so grateful for his tireless efforts, and wish him all the best as he moves on with his career," Nixon said in a statement.
The announcement did not mention details of Murphey’s new job.
Murphey has been a near constant presence at Nixon’s events when he ran for Governor in 2008, on his transition team and in the Governor’s first term.
Channing Ashley has been named as Murphey’s replacement. She worked on the 2012 Nixon re-election effort.
Scott Holste remains the Governor’s News Secretary.
