Missouri Goes to New Anti-Theft Tag Stickers

Missouri is introducing a new form of license tag, aimed at preventing sticker tag theft.
The new stickers, the small labels that show the year the plates expire, are targets for thieves. Replacing them involves time and often a replacement fee.
Missouri Revenue Director Alana Barrigain-Scott says “tab theft is inconvenient for Missourians. The new stickers will not just have the expiration date, but will specific.
It will contain the letters and numbers matched to the numbers and letter on a particular license plate.
The new tabs will be made out of a material that stretches and deforms if there is attempt to remove it.
Barrigain-Scott claims there are about a thousand tab thefts reported to the Kansas City Police each year. It’s also a problem in the Independence area.
The new tabs have been available since the first of October. They are available at certain, but not all license bureau in Missouri. Those locations are mainly in the Kansas City and St. Louis areas and Springfield. They’re also available on-line at plates.mo. gov.
