Roberts’ Rules: Put Potential Rivals on Campaign Committee

Kansas Senator Pat Roberts may have erased any potential primary challenge from his right flank.
Roberts’ 2014 re-election honorary campaign committee includes Ks-1 Rep. Tim Huelskamp and Ks. Attorney General Kris Kobach.
Roberts is the ranking Republican on the Senate AG Committee.
Huelskamp used to have a seat on the House AG panel. He was kicked off earlier this year by House Speaker John Boehner.
Huelskamp says he was booted because wasn’t loyal enough to the GOP House leaders.
Kobach has been a prominent voice in the GOP wing that wants a stricter immigration policy.
Roberts announced sometime ago he intends to stand for a 4th term. He’ll be 78 in 2014.
In addition to Huelskamp, Ks-3 Rep. Kevin Yoder, Ks-2 Dep. Lynn Jenkins and Ks-4 Rep. Mike Pompeo are on the honorary panel. So are Ka. Lt. Governor Jeff Coyler; Attorney General Derek Schmidt and State Treasurer Ron Estes.
