Senate GOP Looks for One Week Extension, Averting Shutdown

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republican Conference are gauging whether there is enough support to pass a one-week stop-gap measure to prevent the government from shutting down at midnight, according to a notice sent to Senate offices, which was obtained by POLITICO. If there is enough support, the measure could allow more time for the House and Senate to work out their differences on a longer-term continuing resolution.
