The Kansas City Star is reporting that Missouri Secretary of State, Democrat Jason Kander may be looking at running for the US Senate in 2016.
Kander would likely be facing Republican incumbent Roy Blunt.
The report says former Kansas Citian would make a decision by this summer. No other major Democrat has expressed any interest in challenging Blunt.
If Kander joined the 2016 campaign, he would probably have to give up the Secretary of State’s office that he now holds.
His term expires in 2016.
Blunt used the same office, Secretary of State, to launch his Congressional career.
He was elected to the Senate in 2010, defeating another Democratic Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan.
