A Kansas City design firm, Intergrated Roadways, plans to offer an alternative to a I-70 toll road to the Missouri Commission next week.
Designer Tim Sylvester wants the state of Missouri to consider his project, prefabricated concrete slaps designed to carry information to motorists as they drive.
Sylvester says the wired road could let drivers know of delays, road conditions and perhaps even charge phones and other devices while the vehicle travels on the road. Intergrated has a small test section of roadway on I-35 in Kansas.
Sylvester says the Pre-fab road slabs would cost more than convention highway construction. He estimates cost could run about $3 million per million for his project. That’s more expensive the traditional highway costs. Sent from my iPhone
