Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is ordering a “full security review”, at all Kansas National Guard facilities. The order appears to include arming more members of the Kansas National Guard.
The order comes in the wake of the deadly shooting of five members of the military last week in Chatanooga, Tenn.
“We will implement security enhancements throughout this ongoing review and assessment as they are identified, including arming additional guardsmen, over and above those security personnel who already carry weapons,” Brownback stated in a news release.
Kansas becomes one of the latest states to take intensified security measures for members of the state guards.
Brownback’s statement says he is asking the Kansas Adjutant General Lee Tafanelli to look for any other actions that could be taken to members of the Kansas Guard or their facilities and installations.
