Nixon Equal Pay Plan for Women Coming Friday in KC Speech

Missouri Times:

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon alluded to an announcement he will make regarding equal pay for women at the Women’s Foundation annual luncheon Friday in Kansas City.
At the event, Nixon will speak to business and civic leaders in front of an estimated crowd of 1600 people, making it one of the largest such gatherings for the foundation in recent memory. However, his proposal has not been officially released.
At least year’s luncheon, the Women’s Foundation announced a major research project and report on the status of women in Missouri. Nixon’s announcement could be a follow-up to that project’s findings.
Keynote speaker Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post, Kansas City Mayor Sly James, and event co-chairs Linda Hanson of Enterprise Bank and Steve Edwards of Black and Veatch will also speak at the event. The foundation’s Mindy Mazur noted they would speak on a wide range of topics including women in leadership and their efforts to expand the number of women in positions of leadership at the Capitol. There may also be more announcements of initiatives geared towards women as well, but specifics have yet to be released.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center
