A Nashville Minister says the pendulum of race relations needs to swing back, in light of the Michael brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri and the Eric Garner death in New York.
The Rev. Dr. Forrest Harris, Sr. was the keynote speaker for the King Day celebrations in Kansas City, Kansas..
“The nation has chosen chaos over community,” according to Dr. Harris,” from the Edmund Pettus bridge in Selma, to a street in Ferguson”.
Harris praised King as a “20th century heavenly sent prophet,”‘ who was able to turn the pendulum of the nation from lynching and sanctioned segregation toward a better state of racial relations.
Harris, however, believes the pendulum has swung the other way again, citing the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Garner in New York City.
About a thousand people were at the traditional event at the Jack Reardon center in KCK.
