U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is coming to Kansas City to discuss the region’s transportation priorities with Sen. Claire McCaskill and local officials.

McCaskill says the meeting will focus on important projects that would help boost economic development and create transportation jobs.

LaHood and McCaskill also plan to discuss legislation proposed by President Barack Obama that includes spending more for transportation infrastructure and developing more cooperation between governments and private companies.

The discussion is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the Truman Library in Independence.
