The University of Central Missouri says it will continue it’s internship program with the Missouri Legislature.

According to the State Senator report, a UCM female intern believes Independence Democrat PaulLevVota sexually harassed her when she was working for him in the 2015.

She stopped working for LeVota before the end of the session in May.

The statement was not attributed to any particular UCM official.

It said, “although we cannot comment on specific issues related to a student’s academic program, we take matters related to Title IX legislation seriously”.

Title IX is the federal law that requires gender equity in any education programs that get federal funding.

The statement says the university’s students have have successful internships with the legislature, intern program.

” We want to continue to make these opportunities possible.”

UCM Campus Launches Campus Smoke Free Program

(AP) – The University of Central Missouri is planning a celebration as it begins to snuff out tobacco use.

The celebration is planned for Thursday afternoon at the school in Warrensburg.

Under the policy, tobacco will be prohibited on campus grounds and in all university-controlled buildings, including residence halls and apartments. Tobacco use also will be barred in university-owned or leased vehicles. There are a handful of exceptions, such as parking lots during public events.

Banned tobacco products include cigarettes, pipes, cigars, hookah/water pipes and chewing tobacco.

The campus won’t begin taking disciplinary action until July.
