Nixon Urges KC to Pursue Other Big Events, Debates, Super Bowls

Here’s what Missouri Governor Hay Nixon said today in Kansas City about the area’s unsuccessful bid for the 2016 GOP Convention:
“”I’m really disappointed. Kansas City was ready to come back to what they did in 1976, where the world looked at this area and chose one of the candidates for President. You know last cycle, St. Louis was in thatsame situation, made the final 4. But it’s nice that Kansas City has made it further along than my Missouri Tigers have in basketball. We never made a final 4 yet, but in Kansas City, getting in that final group, put a lot of attention here and plus I think it clearly lays out areas where’s there growth, where events of that magnitude can be hosted. This is an area where as you look forward, there are still opportunities for another convention here. I think there are opportunities for presidential debates here. I think with the NFL policy of having Superbowls in other areas. You get opportunities there obviously the All-Star game here. This is an area here that can handle significant world class events and I expect Kansas City will continue to be competitive in that regard.”
